70. Love the heart of Africa

Australian Koala

Pastor David Chen, who works at my mother association, often says, “Miss England, Auntie Martha, was a missionary of the CIM, and when she was a girl, she liked black people very much, and she thought that the darker she was, the better she looked." But God led Aunt Martha to Henan Province in China mainland, and the pastor once visited the church where Aunt Martha used to serve, and the chair in the church was supported by two pillars under a bamboo, and the congregation must not nap because they can fall into the gap. Later, when the China expelled the missionaries, Aunt Martha was invited by the OMF (the predecessor of CIM) to serve in Toucheng Town, Yilan County, and she brought out a pastor to study in Toucheng, and finally he entered the Baptist seminary and became an excellent pastor.

Every June, Pastor Chen, Pastor’s wife, and friends of the wheat ears would go to Auntie Martha grave to sing hymns in remembrance of her deeds among her brothers and sisters, and on one occasion, a brother who knew Auntie Martha testified at her grave and said, “When his faith was weak, he saw that Aunt Martha’s face was so peaceful, and he led him on the way of the Lord.” This British lady with a Henan accent, she finally died in Taiwan and was buried in Taiwan, but she was respected by many later generations, as the tombstone wrote: “Because of her faith, she still speaks.”  (Hebrews 11:4)

Once, in Adelaide, Australia, our Boundary Mission School students went to a brother's birthday party, and the brother asked me, “Do I love him?” He was about 60 years old, and I replied, “God has put love for black Africans in my heart.” The next day, the old brother called our director Mark, and said, “Your student Rebecca Sun don't like all Caucasians.” I love all nations, but God has put the seed of love for Africa in my heart, and one day, it will sprout and grow..., may the Lord use me!
